After the final season 8 of Game of Thrones Fans demanded fast replenishment. Fortunately, the adventure in Westeros is far from over. Two spin-off series should be produced. On the one hand there is The Long Night, on the other hand The Dance of the Dragons. Here's what you need to know about the offshoot series. The final episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 was recently shown on Free TV. After the series launch about 8 years ago, it closes a big chapter of the cult series. But even after the story about Daenerys, Jon Snow and Co. ended, that does not mean the end. For now fans can expect soon with new characters and adventures. The development of the two spin-offs is apparently already well advanced. After all, there is some information about what it should be about.
The Long Night (working title: Bloodmoon) was supposed to revolve around the transition of the world from the Age of Heroes into the Long Night. It was intended to provide some surprises about the history of Westeros, the origin of the White Wanderers, the mysteries of the East and the Stark family. At that time there was not yet the Seven Kinglands, a reunion with already known figures should not exist. Numerous actors have already been confirmed. The first episode of The Long Night was filmed in the summer of 2019. Unfortunately, the pilot could not convince and the series was pulped.
The Dance of the Dragons then forms the second prequel series. It is based on George R.R. Martin's fictional history book Fire and Blood. He tells about the conquest of Westeros by the Targaryans. Series adaptation, however, focuses on a very specific epoch: the so-called Dance of the Dragons, a bloody civil war between two Targaryen factions. The focus is on two children of the aristocratic family, Rhaenyra and Aegon II. Her father Viserys I may also appear in the series. But many other big houses like Arryn, Velaryon, Hightower, Stark, Lannister and Baratheon can also be seen. We currently assume that the series will probably not appear before 2021.
