The impeachment trial of US President Trump is announcing a new phase. The public hearing of witnesses will begin next week. Already the Democrats publish the statement of a key witness.
The Democratic Party's impeachment trial of US President Donald Trump in the Ukraine affair marks the beginning of public hearings next week. This was announced by US Secretary of State Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff. For November 13, the hearing of the US top diplomat in Ukraine, William Taylor, is planned. Foreign Secretary of State George Kent is also being summoned for the day. Former US Ambassador to the Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, was due to appear on the hearing on 15 November. Others would follow, wrote the Democrat ship on Twitter. The diplomats have already testified behind closed doors to deputies of both parties, Democrats and Trumps Republicans. The opposition Democrats are currently investigating whether there is enough evidence to justify impeachment proceedings against Trump. The Democrats also published a transcript of a statement already made behind closed doors by Taylor. In the more than 300-page document, the diplomat is said to have given many details of Trump's possible attempt to urge Ukraine to investigate its democratic opponent Joe Biden. Taylor's opening remarks had previously reached the press. In it, the latter had shared the assessment that Trump has retained military aid as a means of pressure, it says on the portal "The Hill". Taylor: Giuliani had the idea Giuliani. (Photo: imago images / AFLO) According to the New York Times, Taylor said in the now-released transcript that the idea of getting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj to publicly announce investigations into the Burmese corporation and the 2016 elections was on Trumps Lawyer Rudy Giuliani has gone down.Burisma is the company where Hunter Biden sat on the board – he is the son of Joe Biden, the potential presidential candidate of the Democrats next year. Trump repeatedly suggests that Biden wanted to protect his son from investigation when he was vice president under Barack Obama. The electoral investigation is based on the unproven theory that Ukraine, not Russia, interfered in the US elections in 2016. Giuliani's role is highly controversial as the Trump confidant has a decisive influence on Ukraine's US policy in this matter although he has no official office. He's just Trump's private lawyer. Giuliani had said that he had consulted with the State Department. Taylor and other diplomats such as US Ambassador to the EU, Gordon Sondland, contradict this. According to them, they did not have much influence on Giuliani.
