The shooting start of The Batman is fast approaching. Thus, the cast of the new DC strip continues to grow. After the Riddler, Jim Gordon and Catwoman could now be added to another newcomer. What role this would embody, is not yet clear. Slowly, the next Batman adaptation is taking shape more and more. For months we have known that Robert Pattinson becomes the Dark Knight of Gotham City. Together with Commissioner Gordon, played by Jeffrey Wrights, he is fighting evil. This consists mainly of the Riddler, the penguin and now and then Catwoman. Now, apparently, another young actress is about to join. What role it embodies is still the material for discussion.
Collider reported that Jayme Lawson will also be featured in the upcoming DC adaptation. The young actress recently graduated from the Juilliard School in New York, one of the most prestigious drama schools in the world. As part of her education, she played mainly in theater productions such as Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet or Macbeth.
The page io9 could probably learn more about Lawson's role. Allegedly, she is supposed to play a character named Bella, a bourgeois candidate for a political office in Gotham. Since there is no Bella in the Batman comics, they should have been created especially for the film. Comic Book News hear another rumor. Accordingly, the actress could also take over the role of Barbara Gordon. It is Commissioner Gordon's daughter, who is also known in the comics as the superhero Batgirl.
So far, there were no official confirmations from Warner Bros. or DC. The Batman director Matt Reeves has not yet commented on the subject. Until we get more information, so you should enjoy these rumors with great care. The Batman launches on June 25, 2021 in the US cinemas. A German date, the adaptation has not yet.
