The first season of The Witcher on Netflix is expected by Netflix users this December. Doer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich already hinted at having material for many more seasons. Now Netflix seems to put more confidence in the dark fantasy series. That's why the streaming giant has already commissioned a second season. Just over a month, The Witcher fans have to wait until the first season of the Netflix adaptation appears. At the end of December they take us on a dangerous journey together with witcher and monster hunter Geralt von Riva. This must butcher through creatures and soldiers to survive in the brutal fantasy world. And this seems to be so big that further episodes have already been carved in stone. No matter what the series actually is, replenishment is already on the way. That's why it was proud to announce on Twitter that the second season of The Witcher will definitely take place: "Geralt's adventure is just beginning … The Witcher has been extended for a second season!"
Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich was also very happy about the extension of her series. Speaking to TV Line, she said, "I'm so excited that even before fans even saw our Season 1, we can confirm that we're returning to this continent and telling the stories of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri can."
If it were up to Hissrich, The Witcher would eventually come to a total of 7 seasons. There is even rumor now that Netflix could plan another franchise animation series. But first, watch the first season with all 8 episodes. This will be released on December 20, 2019 at Netflix. Season 2 with 8 episodes will follow in 2021.
