Arsenal have been without victory for eight games in a row. Interim coach Freddie Ljungberg and his assistant Per Mertesacker could not change that in their first match on the sidelines of the Londoners. Arsenal split 2-1 (2-1) away from second-bottom Norwich City in the Premier League. Twice equalized Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (29./57.) Tours from Norwich, for the hosts met Teemu Pukki (21) and Todd Cantwell (45 + 2).

In the English league it was for Arsenal the sixth game in a row without a win. This is the longest run of their kind since December 1994 for the Londoners. The point against Norwich does not help the Gunners any further, they stay in eighth place, one behind Tottenham on Europa League and seven behind FC Chelsea and the Champions League places.

Norwich took the lead in the 21st minute with a goal from former Schalke striker Pukki. After a counterattack, the striker prevailed against Arsenal's defense and hit with a deflected shot from 16 meters to 1-0. For Pukki it was indeed the seventh goal of the season, but the first goal after eight scoreless games.

A few minutes later Mesut Özil flanked a free-kick into the penalty area of the hosts and Christoph Zimmermann got the ball to the arm. The penalty from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saved Tim Krul in the first attempt (26). However, since too many players were too early in the penalty area, referee Paul Tierney repeated the penalty. The second possibility took Aubameyang to 1: 1, Krul had jumped into the wrong corner (29).

Norwich took the lead again before the break. Again Arsenal's defense was unsorted after a counterattack by the hosts. Cantwell hit the right corner from the left half (45. + 2). For the 2: 2 needed Arsenal again a standard. After a corner kick, the ball fell again in front of Aubameyang, the striker came from five meters to equalize (57.).

Within three minutes, Norwich had two good chances for third lead. Shkodran Mustafi, who played for the first time this season in the Premier League, was not close enough to opponent Kenny McLean. However, goalkeeper Bernd Leno blocked the shot of the Scotsman at the outer post (59.). Shortly after, Cantwell narrowly missed the goal (62 '). So it was the draw.

Arsenal were released after losing 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in Europa League coach Unai Emery. For him, the former arsenal star Ljungberg took over as interim coach. Mertesacker, actually head of the Youth Academy, is currently working as an assistant to the Swede.
