Sky Q customers who enjoy their exclusive Sky program in several rooms can look forward to another upgrade for their television experience. The option that was successfully introduced on the Sky Q Receiver and the Sky + Receiver a few months ago to customize the parental controls to suit your personal needs is now also available for the Sky Q Mini Box and the Sky Q app on Apple TV and Samsung Smart TVs available.
Customers can choose from three different options. In the "Standard" mode, the parental control PIN is requested at the following times: content from 12 years from 6 am to 8 pm, from 16 years from 6 am to 10 pm and from 18 years from 6 am to 11 pm. With the "Individual" setting, customers can choose from which age group and at what point in time the PIN should be requested. In the "Never" mode, customers who have no children in the household can completely deactivate the PIN query for content with the approval of 0 to 18 years. Content on the Blue Movie channels is an exception. Sky also recommends that all customers regularly change the parental control PIN and regularly check all settings.
With the youth protection system rated positive by the KJM (Commission for Youth Media Protection), Sky is breaking new ground in youth protection, and in the summer of 2019, Sky was the first provider in Germany to offer personalized youth protection settings for linear television and on-demand content with regard to all common age ratings. With this step, Sky improves the ease of use for its customers and at the same time ensures that the legal protection of minors is fully complied with and guaranteed.
The expansion of the function to the Sky Go app is planned at a later date.
