The two series creators, scriptwriters and showrunners, David Simon ("The Wire") and George Pelecanos are resurrecting the dirty New York of the 70s and 80s with "The Deuce". His most important collaborator in this project is James Franco, who not only embodies twin brothers Vincent and Frankie, but also serves as executive producer. His figure of Vincent is based, in part, on a true character that actually led a bar close to Times Square that was unusual for the time, a melting pot of all social strata. James Franco also puts his mark on the nostalgic, atmospheric and at the same time socially critical series as one of the directors. As planned from the beginning, David Simon is now leaving the series after the third season and a total of 25 episodes.
