Football: Penalty drama in the Japanese Super Cup final

Vissel Kobe has secured the first title of the season. In the first game after Lukas Podolski's departure, the reigning cup winner won the Supercup final against champions Yokohama F. Marinos 3-2 (3-3) after a spectacular penalty shootout. After the first four shooters had converted from the point, penalty number five, still touched by the goalkeeper, landed on the post. The sixth penalty went to the post. An attempt followed far over the goal – and six more misses.

After the regular season, in which the Kobe coached by Thorsten Fink had taken the lead three times, it had been 3: 3. In the duel from the point, the former Spanish world and European champion Andrés Iniesta met for Kobe. Hotaro Yamaguchi converted the decisive penalty for Kobe.
