Hertha BSC has returned the 1-0 defeat in the first leg and won the Berlin second leg derby against Union 4-0 (0-0). After the break, Vedad Ibisevic (51. minute) and Dodi Lukebakio (52.) scored for Hertha within two minutes, Matheus Cunha scored the third goal (61.). Dedryck Boyata ensured the final score (77th). Goal scorer Ibisevic prepared two goals. For Bruno Labbadia it was the second win in the second game as Hertha coach.
For the first time in the Bundesliga there was a minute's silence before the game for the victims of the coronavirus pandemic. The German Football League (DFL) had called for this for the next two match days. The players wore black ribbon.
After kick-off, Hertha largely took control of the ball. The hosts were looking for their fast winger Dodi Lukebakio. He had the best chance to date after 18 minutes when he ran from a narrow angle to Union goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz alone. The keeper parried Lukebakio's shot. Union did not finish Hertha in the first half. The best chance of the guests had Robert Andrich, who shot a free kick just over the bar (45.).
Three goals in ten minutes After the break, the goals fell: Marvin Plattenhardt flanked from the left into the center and Ibisevic headed for the lead (51.). After the goal, Union was not up, Hertha countered the guests only a minute later, Ibisevic sent Lukebakio with a pass into the top. The curved Gikiewicz and pushed in to 2-0 (52nd). Less than ten minutes later, Matheos Cunha again scored the third Hertha goal from the penalty area on the presentation of Ibisevic (61.).
Union had little chance and offered little resistance. The team never got a shot at the hosts' goal until the end. After a corner from Plattenhardt Boyata headed to the final score (77th).
In contrast to last week, the Herthan team no longer embraced each other when celebrating the goal, but tried to keep their distance. In doing so, they followed the recommendations of the DFL's hygiene concept in the corona pandemic.
