Stefan Raab is said to have just "invented" such a music casting show for ProSieben – apparently it already exists in South Korea and RTL is bringing it to us in Germany. Is this the next big step after "The Masked Singer"? Do you look at someone to see if they can sing – without ever hearing the voice? RTL's new music comedy show "I can see your voice" provides the answer in summer. That sounds suspiciously like Stefan Raab's show idea, which will soon start on ProSieben, but the difference is not that small.
The Cologne TV broadcaster brings the show hit from South Korea, which is celebrating great success across Asia, to Germany. "I can see your voice" offers a show full of bizarre delusions, fun and verbal beat exchanges and invites the whole family to join in the guesswork: who is a real singing talent and who is just bluffing?
Seven unknowns on a show stage: who is a talented singer and who is an uninhibited swindler without any singing quality? In several game rounds, a music star and his super fan try to separate the wheat from the chaff with intuition and knowledge of human nature, as well as with tips.
A five-person celebrity panel from all areas of the entrainment industry advises and provides additional fun with tips and relaxed sayings. Round after round the music star and his biggest fan say goodbye to a candidate. And every farewell makes for a show highlight, because on the “Stage of Truth” the ex-member is now performing. Now it turns out: Has the star identified an impostor with a crooked voice or given a great singing talent the pass? The candidate who makes it to the finals can sing in a duet with the music star. Here the hard truth is revealed: gold throats or cat musicians?
Only if the last candidate is a top singer does the music star win a cash prize for his super fan. But if the duo fell for a bluffer without a voice, tact and understanding of the melody, the poser gets the money that could deceive everyone.
"I can see your voice" is a license format from South Korea and has been running there with great success since 2015 – now in its seventh season. In 2016 the show was nominated in the "Best Non-Scripted Entertainment Program" category at the 44th International Emmy Awards. There are also successful adaptations in Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, China and Bulgaria. The music show is also planned for 2020 in the USA. "I can see your voice" is produced on behalf of RTL by Tresor TV Produktions GmbH.
