After a rape near Potsdam on Tuesday, the police arrested a man. As the General Prosecutor's Office in Berlin announced, "according to current knowledge" it is a sought-after serial offender.
The 30-year-old is suspected of being responsible for a number of sex offenses in the Berlin area. The "Tagesspiegel" had previously reported on the arrest.

Shortly afterwards, he is said to have overwhelmed and raped her. Police searched for suspects by helicopter. Police officers could have found a man on a bicycle near the scene of the crime, to whom the description of the perpetrator fit very precisely. When he saw the police, he fled to the forest, leaving his bike behind. The police followed him and told him to stop. An official also fired warning shots into the air. However, the suspect continued to flee.
The incident in Potsdam could be related to the recent sex offenses in the region that are attributed to a serial rapist.
